About Chiropractic

What is Chiropractic?

Chiropractic is a health care discipline that deals primarily with conditions that are due to joint and muscle problems and their effects upon the nervous system. At Back & Neck Chiropractic, we focus on the relationship between your body’s structure and function and how that relationship affects your health. The primary structure that is treated is the spine and musculature, which affects the nervous system. The nervous system monitors and controls the entire body. Chiropractic focuses on both wellness and sickness care. The emphasis is not only on treatment, but also on prevention of the problem. Many patients gain improvement in health they did not expect from chiropractic. This is because all body systems improve with better nerve function. Thus, chiropractors manage more than just musculoskeletal problems.

Your Visit to Back & Neck Chiropractic

The initial consultation, examination and treatment will take approximately 40 minutes - 1 hour. During this time, the doctor takes a detailed history of your health followed by a thorough chiropractic examination. The doctor may refer you for x-ray evaluation or additional diagnostic testing if required.

The doctor will then provide you with an individualised treatment plan explaining your condition, the number of treatments required and what type of treatments will be administered. Upon completion of your treatment plan, the doctor will provide a maintenance programme to prevent further episodes of pain along with nutritional, ergonomic advice and exercises.
